Room 16
WELCOME TO ROOM 16'S LEARNING COMMUNITY
At the end of last term, 7 of our lovely students moved on to another class. We wish them lots of success and are sure they will enjoy their new teachers and make more new friends. However we have had lots more new students join our class. A big welcome to Kai, Rafaela, Hayden, Aria, Christeena, Raniera, Callum, Jolene, Curtis, and Mohamed.
Term 1's athletics and market night was awesome. We so enjoyed making our beautiful beaded bookmarks for our families. They were very popular at the market. All of them were sold!
Kiwisport Netball was exciting too. We learned alot of new skills and had lots of fun too.
School life is very busy and there are so many things to learn. Some of the things we like to do are reading the class books we make, Jump Jam dancing and going to Junior Assembly with Mrs Barclay. Our most favourite thing to do though, is spending time out the back of our classroom. Especially on a Friday afternoon. That's when we get to play with the dress ups and the trains. Also the winning table for the week gets to play with some very special toys.
This term we have learned a new sport, Rippa Rugby. We really enjoyed playing it. We have learned to be quick on our feet, to grab at rips, pass a ball and roll rugby balls through our legs. We have had such a good time playing and running around.
What a great time we are having with science. So far we have had fun making light objects move, through static electricity. We also made a colour symphony with milk , dish washing liquid and dye. And made dye blobs move in a bottle. Science is awesome!
We now have some new class pets. Not the traditional type of pet you might find in a classroom. Our pets are worms!
Although we already have a compost for our ten o'clock brain food scraps, we really wanted to have worm wee for our garden and fruit trees. So... we set up a worm farm. We had to soak the 'bedding', rip up damp cardboard and pull our foodscraps apart to make it easier for the worms to eat. We enjoyed setting it up but some of us thought the worms were a bit yucky.
The other week our class and Room 5 organised the whole school assembly. We really like working with the senior kids in Room 5. They come and visit us every Tuesday and read us stories.
For our assembly item they played the Hokey Tokey on their ukeleles while we sang and danced. We were very good. We enjoyed putting our silly faces 'in and out' and 'shaking them about' the best.
