Greetings all and welcome back to school for another term of learning packed days!
As I am Acting Deputy Principal this term, I have the following times where I will be released from teaching in the classroom in order to attend to other duties.
Monday after lunch- Mrs Fisher
Wednesday all day - Ms Mill
Friday after lunch - Mrs Purcell
This term our Inquiry focus is called 'Manuka's Prove it or Not!' and we will be busy conducting all kinds of scientific experiments. As part of that, we will be busy preparing for our display at the Science Fair in the last week of term.
My favourite celebration of Matariki is coming up in June! The children will be learning all about this special time and Room 3 will be immersed in Maori legends, songs and poems! We look forward to seeing you at our Matariki evening.
While I continue to teach the Number part of our maths programme, Ms Mill will be teaching Geometry every Wednesday morning.
It was great to meet most of you at last term's 3 way interviews. Please feel free to pop in any time to see me or to have a look at your child's class work.
Happy Autumn!
Some important information for you to know-
*We have brain food every day at 10 am. Please provide some fruit or vegetables for your child to eat at that time. No packets allowed and please try to avoid sending food that requires a spoon.
Homework-This term the homework has increased to 3 subjects- reading, maths and spelling.
Reading-Your child is expected to read their home reader each night, and their yellow reading log needs to be filled in. I will check these on a weekly basis and put in the special milestone stickers as they are achieved.
Spelling- The explanation of how to do the homework Mon to Thurs is glued in the front of the spelling notebook.
Maths- I talked about what to do for maths homework at the 3 way interviews. I also sent home an explanation sheet. If you are still unsure please write me a note or come and see me.
*Ms Libby Mill teaches the class every Wednesday afternoon from 1.30 to 3.00. She takes them to the library each week, so remember to send library books to school every Wednesday.
