Room 4
Welcome to Room 4
Room 4 has 24 children, 11 awesome girls and 13 fantastic
boys. During first term, children got to know one another and have settled into
the classroom routines and expectations.
Exciting events
of term one:
Our big event last term was Athletics Day which took place
in March.
Room 4’s art project was elephant pen holders, which sold
well at the stall.
Congratulations to Brooke Bradley and Jamillia Tepu for
getting first place in the junior races.
Inquiry:
Our topic for term one was scientific experiments, this will
continue in term 2 as well.
In the first term, Room 4 received a Swan plant with
caterpillars. This allowed the children to observe and discuss the life cycle
of a butterfly. We all were very excited when the chrysalises turned into
beautiful monarch butterflies. By the end of term one, we had released 9
monarch butterflies.
Maths: Children
have been grouped and will be focusing on addition, subtraction and statistics.
Literacy: In
writing children are learning to write recounts. Children will be bringing home
library books, poetry folders and easy to read books. Please support and
encourage your child to read daily. Please make time to listen to your child
read. Young readers also get great reading experiences when they listen to an
adult read or take turns reading parts of the story with you.
Upcoming
exciting events for term two:
Science
Fair-
Children will display their scientific experiments.
Matariki
Night –Celebrated at school with Whanau.
