VISION : Inspiring today's learners for tomorrow's world ...
Four underlying and interdependent concepts are at the heart of this learning area:
Hauora– a Māori philosophy of well-being that includes the dimensions taha wairua, taha hinengaro, taha tinana, and taha whānau, each one influencing and supporting the others.
Attitudes and values – a positive, responsible attitude on the part of students to their own well-being; respect, care, and concern for other people and the environment; and a sense of social justice.
The socio-ecological perspective – a way of viewing and understanding the interrelationships that exist between the individual, others, and society.
At Manuka School we employ a specialist Physical Education Teacher.
Each class attend a Physical Education lesson for one hour per week with our specialist teacher.
Your child’s classroom teacher also teaches them physical education throughout the school week.
We proudly offer our students a variety of sports both in school and out of school.
After school sports teams offered are; netball, touch rugby, hockey, and basketball
Manuka School is a North Shore Championship grade Basketball School – many times over.
We also take our students off site to compete in Cluster School events such as Rippa Rugby, Cross Country, T-Ball and Athletics.
We have a Dance Company called 'Footsteps' come into our school biannually to teach our students a range of dances.
During the dryer months we have a company called Football for Children come on site. They offer each class a free trial lesson. Children can then sign up to play football at lunchtime for 6 weeks, at a small cost.
